Memorial Biography

Age 72 of Tucson, AZ, originally Fridley, MN, passed away on June 30, 2021. Preceded in death by his wife Rosemarie; parents Edward and Joan; and niece Joy. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his wife, Nancy; brother Steven (Janet); daughters Laura Marciniak, Lisa (Jason) Sanderson, and Rachel (Nathan) Edwards; stepdaughters Kelli (Daniel) Scowcroft and Alana Carnevale; stepson Michael Winslow; 6 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends.  Thomas joined the Navy Reserves after graduating from Fridley High School in 1967, and made his career with Xcel Energy. He met his first wife Jan and had 2 daughters, Laura and Lisa. He then met his wife Rosemarie, who also worked for Xcel, and had a daughter, Rachel, and stepdaughter Kelli. A natural caretaker, Thomas spent many years caring for Rosemarie during her cancer treatments as well as his parents, Ed and Joan. After retiring in 2004, Thomas moved to his lake house in Aitkin, MN where he spent many peaceful days by the lake with Ed and Joan, and where he met his wife Nancy. In 2015, they relocated to Tucson, AZ where they enjoyed endless warm, sunny days. Thomas made the most of life and enjoyed lots of activities. The outdoors were his specialty - fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, 4wheeling, you name it! Sports cars was another love interest. Mustangs especially but anything that had a bite and a rumble! He also quite enjoyed Westerns and really embraced the Western way of life once relocating to Tucson. A memorial service for Thomas, presided by Father Al Backmann, will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Chapel (3816 Penn Ave. N., Minneapolis) at 11 AM with a visitation an hour prior to the service. Luncheon to follow service at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven (5125 W Broadway Ave, Crystal, MN 55429). In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor preferred to the American Legion.
